Malaysia military: plane tracked over the Strait of Malacca

Malaysia’s military believes it has tracked the path of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane by radar over the Strait of Malacca. The busy shipping channel runs along Malaysia’s west coast, far from where the flight made its last contact with air traffic control.

Meanwhile, the two men who used false passports to board the flight have been identified as Iranian nationals. The international police agency Interpol said investigations were continuing into the two men’s motives for using false documents.

Earlier, Interpol confirmed that only two stolen passports were used by passengers on board the missing plane. Malaysia Airlines also said the search and rescue effort had been expanded beyond the plane’s flight path to include land areas.

Dozens of ships and planes from eleven countries are searching the waters near the last known location of Flight MH370. Chinese mainland has sent out nine ships to search for the missing Malaysian jet liner.
