CCTV9英语新闻:Ukraine regains control over border with Russia
Ukraine's acting defence minister said the country's troops have regained control over the joint border with Russia, and can now prevent military equipment being brought across the frontier.
The Ukrainian army has been fighting pro-Russian rebels in the east for weeks, and hostilities have continued despite President Petro Poroshenko’s promise this week of an upcoming cease-fire. Ukraine's military says seven soldiers were killed and 30 injured in fighting outside the village of Yampil since Thursday.
It also said that 300 rebels were killed, but that could not be immediately verified. The UN says over 350 people, including 257 civilians, have been killed in eastern Ukraine since May 7.
